The incident is said to have occurred when the Commander of the 27 Task Force Brigade in Damaturu, Colonel Usman Yusuf was showing journalists around some communities recently recovered from Boko Haram.
The fleeing terrorist was believed to have been on a surveillance mission for the sect when he was sighted.
Colonel Yusuf however assured that the terrorist would soon be apprehended.
Nigerian troops recently recaptured over 30 communities which were previously under the control of Boko Haram.
