Police get back card reader, portable laptop in Abia estate





Scarcely one week after eight staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Abia State were tested for asserted endeavor to take card perusers, the police have recuperated five card perusers and two portable workstations having a place with INEC from  a den in Umuahia.

The recuperation was said to have been made by investigators of the Zone 9 Police Command Umuahia.

The INEC materials,  as per a Police source, were found in  "a shrouded area" in Amoba Housing Estate, Old Umuahia, taking after
a tip off. Our source included that the things were recuperated from an area near to the home of one of the INEC authorities being questioned by the police over the endeavored card peruser robbery.

Six more INEC staff, including the Secretary to the Resident Electoral Commissioner,  were grabbed last Thursday other than two Information Communication Technology workers prior captured regarding the card peruser robbery.

The REC, Prof. Selina Oko, said she was additionally  educated about the recuperation by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 9, Mr Usman Gwary, on Monday.

Oko clarified that she went outside the state, including that she AIG examine the recuperated thing when she came back to the state.

She said, "The AIG called me early today to come and assess a few materials that were recouped however I let him know that I was not in Umuahia.

"I let him know that I would come to investigate them when I return."

The Police Public Relations Officer accountable for the zone, Mr. Emmanuel Jiakponna, declined remark on the matter.
